Minnesota Transfer Curriculum

Each institution within the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities certifies the courses for the ten goal areas within the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC).   Students choose courses in each goal area as required by the institution they are attending.  To complete the entire MnTC, 40 credits must be earned in the ten goal areas (as well as the requirements for each of the goal areas).  Beginning January 1, 2002, all Minnesota Transfer Curriculum courses, goal areas, and completed MnTC (40 credits) offered by MnSCU institutions must transfer within MnSCU in to the goal areas as designated by original sending institution.

Following is a sample
Minnesota Transfer Curriculum:
The first six goal areas are core areas.  Goals 7-10 are theme areas (each goal area meets a theme).  Some courses may be certified to fulfill up to two different goal areas at the same time (they may be certified to fulfill a third concurrent goal area if the third goal is Goal 2:  Critical Thinking); however, credits are only counted once and students are required to complete a total of 40 credits for the entire MnTC.

Note:
Students who follow an Associate in Science (AS), Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) or an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) will have a different set of distribution requirements from the following and are advised to talk to counselors and advisors and to consult their college/university catalog or website for more information.
