Limits on Transfer CreditsFour-year colleges/universities often have a maximum limit for the number of credits they will accept from a community or technical college. Check out the transfer credit policy at the institution you are interested in attending. Some universities/colleges have limits on the number of transfer credits that will be accepted. There is a minimum number of credits you must take at the final college or university to meet their residency requirement. If your community college work is combined with credit from a four-year institution, or if you have credit from several colleges/universities, you should consult the Admissions Office at the institution of your choice. Agreements for transferable courses are subject to annual revision, so it is important that you look at the agreement for the year in which you took the course. If your course(s) were not accepted in transfer, you can inquire about the possibility to petition or appeal at most colleges/universities. Exceptions to transfer are done only through official channels (appeal process)-not verbally. Contact the transfer specialist for information.
