Getting together and sharing ideas about teaching and learning.

Strategy(s) to address transfer issue/problem one:

  • Planning a Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) Discipline workshop for October 2003!  Shannon Marting and Ken Zapp are taking the lead.
  • Use listserve/email to post today’s discussions.
  • Use a website.

Transfer issue/problem two:

How well do students do when they transfer?  Need better information on student Performance – quality and quantity.

Strategy(s) to address transfer issue/problem two:

  • Getting together to share texts, syllabi and output measure.
  • BUILD TRUST.

Transfer issue/problem three:

Minor issues:

  1. Number of credits for macro and micro economics not always consistent within MnSCU/private/UofM. -  three versus four credits.  This is not a transfer issue, but are the students missing depth.
  2. Mathematics prerequisite needed for micro/macro economics?  College algebra?
  3. Should other courses besides macro/micro economics be offered at the 100 level?  Yes, electives such as Consumer Economics.

Strategy(s) to address transfer issue/problem three:  None

NOTE:  The econ faculty did not have any issues that they felt needed to be fixed.
